Something my husband came across & it shows what the implant surgery entails. This made me a tad queasy actually, but it's nice to be prepared for what will be happening to my body!

What is CRPS / RSD?

Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) was formerly called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), so you may hear either reference when talking about this condition. It is a nerve disorder that usually occurs after a traumatic injury,
surgery, sprain, fracture, or a period of immobilization. The principal symptom is pain dramatically disproportionate to the injury. Nerves misfire, sending constant pain signals to the brain. CRPS can lead to disability and despite the person looking healthy, it often causes unbearable and unrelenting nerve pain. It can get worse over time, especially if not diagnosed quickly. Treatments have shown to be more effective the sooner they are begun. Most commonly CRPS affects the hands, arms, feet or legs, but can effect other parts of the body as well.

Some Symptoms / Effects
- Inflammation
- Extreme sweating
- Severe burning of limb
- Pain ranges from stabbing, sharp, dull & throbbing
- Colors change of skin
- Temperature change of limb or extreme sensitivity temperature change
- Extreme sensitivity to touch
- Problems moving or using the affected limb
- Depression & anxiety caused by constant pain, which can lead to very difficult daily life and trials
- Problems sleeping & concentrating
- Pain can change dramatically & without warning
- Pain can spread to limbs not originally affected
- No cure
